Drink a cup of coffee a day cuts the risk of liver cancer

A recent study showed that drinking a cup of coffee a day can reduce the risk of liver cancer, compared with those who rarely drank coffee.

This study began in the 1990s at 180,000 adults from various racial and ethnic types. Researchers then observe their habits of drinking coffee and other lifestyle. Until now the participants are observed during the 18 annual and researchers continue to observe their risk of liver cancer.

It is known that people who drank three cups coffee a day had a reduced risk liver cancer by 29 percent compared with those who drank less than six cups of coffee per week.

In addition, people who drink cups of coffee a day around four cup also have the risk of liver cancer is lower by 42 percent, as reported by Health Day News.

The researchers found the results even after they count the other risk factors such as age, obesity, smoking, drinking alcohol, sex, and diabetes. The results of this study also confirmed the findings were never published in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology were performed on 3,200 patients.

The study found that drinking three cups of coffee a day may reduce the risk of liver cancer by 50 percent. In addition to lowering the risk of liver cancer, is also suspected of coffee can reduce the risk of cancer of the neck, head, colon cancer, prostate, pancreas, and bladder cancer.

Even so, until now researchers have not found a reason why coffee may reduce the risk of liver cancer. V. Wendy Setiawan lead researcher of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, coffee is known to contain 100 active ingredients including antioxidants, polyphenols, and caffeine which can affect the enzymes in the liver.
